BAE Systems' 12-inch medium UUV, extending the Riptide family beyond its small vehicles.
Riptide UUV-12 is BAE Systems' medium-size unmanned undersea vehicle, a 12-inch-diameter member of the Riptide family that grew out of its 2019 acquisition of Riptide Autonomous Solutions. Larger than the micro and man-portable Riptides, it is designed for longer missions with high-efficiency electronics and low-noise propulsion, and keeps the family's open architecture so customers can add their own sensors and autonomy. BAE tested it off Massachusetts in 2020 and positions it for mine countermeasures, ISR, and survey.
