Visão geral
Small, low-cost open-architecture UUV from BAE Systems widely used by the U.S. Navy and researchers to develop undersea autonomy.
The Riptide Micro-UUV is a small, inexpensive autonomous underwater vehicle that became a standard testbed for undersea autonomy in the United States. Originally developed by Riptide Autonomous Solutions and acquired by BAE Systems in 2019, the base vehicle is about a metre long and under 5 inches in diameter, weighing roughly 10 kg. The MK II version dives to 300 m, can sprint at more than 10 knots, and runs for more than 40 hours at 2 knots on ordinary alkaline batteries, or over a week on lithium cells. Its open hardware and software let users add their own sensors and autonomy code, and modular sections can carry side-scan sonar, environmental sensors, and acoustic modems. Navy laboratories, universities, and industry use Riptide vehicles to test swarming, mine-hunting, and survey behaviours.

Base vehicle about 40 in (1 m) long, 4.875 in diameter, and about 22-25 lb; configurations range from 25 in to 72 in. MK II: 300 m depth, over 10 kn, 40+ hours at 2 kn. Early models ran 100+ nm in 36 hours (converted to 185 km). BAE acquired Riptide Autonomous Solutions in 2019; larger 1MP and 2MP models also exist.
