Overview

Family of fast 3-13 m uncrewed target boats from L3Harris ASV, used for naval gunnery training.

C-Target is a long-running family of fast uncrewed target boats from the British ASV company, now part of L3Harris. Navies use them to rehearse defending against small fast attack craft: the boats charge at ships at up to 54 knots, alone or in swarms, so crews can practise tracking and firing on them. Radar reflectors and heat sources make them look like real threats to sensors, and they can also tow inflatable targets. Sizes run from 3 to 13 metres.

Notes

The C-Target range runs from about 3 m to 13 m and up to 60 kn. The C-Target 9 spec sheet gives a 9.6 m aluminium hull, 2.4 m beam, 0.4 m draft, about 2,750 kg, four 200, 250 or 300 hp outboards or a diesel inboard option, 54 kn, 600 L of fuel and UHF control beyond 10 km. It can act as a direct-fire target or tow inflatable targets, can be configured for manned use, and can be dressed to resemble specific craft. Boats operate singly or in swarms under the ASView-T control system. South Korea took delivery of C-Target 9s in 2013.
