概述

Japanese mine-hunting UUV deployed from the JMSDF's Mogami-class multi-mission frigates.

OZZ-5 is a mine-hunting unmanned underwater vehicle developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries with Japan's defence research establishment. It gives the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's Mogami-class frigates an organic mine-countermeasure capability without dedicated minehunters. The torpedo-shaped vehicle is about 4 m long, 0.5 m in diameter, and around 200 kg, and runs for more than nine hours on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery at a cruise speed of about 4 knots. Its main sensor is Thales' SAMDIS synthetic-aperture sonar, which images the seabed at high resolution to detect and classify mines. Navigation uses an inertial system, and data comes back over Wi-Fi and satellite links. OZZ-5 works alongside an unmanned surface vessel in the frigates' mine-warfare suite.

备注

Reported figures: 4 m length, 0.5 m diameter, about 200 kg, more than 9 hours on lithium-ion batteries. Sources differ on top speed (5 kn per Janes, 7 kn per Military Periscope). Developed by MHI with the Japanese Ministry of Defense's technical research institute; deployed with an IHI-built mine-countermeasure USV.
