XV Excalibur is the Royal Navy's Project Cetus extra-large uncrewed underwater vehicle, built by MSubs in Plymouth for the UK Submarine Delivery Agency and Royal Navy. Public UK Government material describes it as a 12 m, 19 tonne XLUUV, the largest uncrewed underwater vessel trialled by the Royal Navy, and a testbed for building trust in underwater autonomy and assessing military payloads and missions. Excalibur was named in May 2025, handed over to the Royal Navy in December 2025, and is scheduled for extensive sea trials. Reported mission areas include ISR, stealthy underwater experimentation, seabed warfare, anti-submarine warfare concepts, bespoke payload trials, and future crewed-uncrewed underwater teaming.
