Descripción general
HII's 190 ft autonomous surface vessel built to carry containerized weapons and sensors and to launch smaller drones.
ROMULUS is a family of autonomous surface vessels from HII, the largest U.S. military shipbuilder, unveiled in September 2025. The flagship ROMULUS 190 is a 190 ft (58 m) vessel designed to exceed 25 knots and to cover at least 2,500 nautical miles while carrying four 40 ft shipping containers on its open payload deck. Those containers can hold missiles, sensors, electronic-warfare kits, or logistics loads, so one hull can be reconfigured for different missions. The ship can also launch and recover HII's REMUS underwater vehicles, aerial drones, and smaller ROMULUS boats. It runs HII's Odyssey autonomy software, which the company says has logged thousands of hours on more than 35 uncrewed platforms. The prototype is being built with Breaux Brothers and Incat Crowther and is due for sea trials in late 2026.

Notas
HII publishes a minimum range of 2,500 nm (converted to 4,630 km) while carrying four 40 ft containers, and a speed above 25 kn. Partners are Breaux Brothers (builder), Incat Crowther (design), and Beier Integrated Systems. The family also includes the 27 ft ROMULUS-25 interceptor (about 1,000 lb payload, 1,000 nm range), two of which were delivered to the U.S. Marine Corps. Specifications are pre-trials targets.
