Descripción general
Turkish 4.5 m kamikaze drone boat from state-owned MKE, unveiled at IDEF 2025.
Pirana is a small kamikaze drone boat from MKE, Turkey's state-owned weapons maker. The 4.5-metre craft carries a 65 kg explosive charge and sprints at more than 40 knots before ramming its target. In 2025 trials from the amphibious ship TCG Anadolu, a Bayraktar TB3 drone flying overhead took control of it and steered it onto the target, extending its reach beyond the horizon. MKE says one operator can run up to four in a swarm.

Janes reports a 4.5 m length, 20 kn cruise and burst speeds over 40 kn; other reports give about 1,200 kg displacement, waterjet propulsion, over 50 kn, over 200 nmi range (converted to km) and a 65 kg high-explosive warhead. In June 2025 trials from TCG Anadolu, a Bayraktar TB3 drone took control of it over a datalink and guided it to the target, extending control beyond line of sight. One console can control up to four boats. EDR reports the suicide version at TRL 8, with a launcher-armed version still in testing.
