Overview

12 m classed catamaran USV from RC Dock for offshore inspection and survey.

RC Dock's 12-metre USV is a Dutch-built uncrewed catamaran for offshore inspection, maintenance and survey work, designed to replace much larger crewed support ships for many jobs. Its twin hulls split to fit standard shipping containers for transport, and its deck system launches, tows and recovers ROVs and towed sonar vehicles. Running on biofuel, it can stay out for a month while a licensed master watches over it from a control centre ashore. It was the company's first vessel to be fully classed for operation up to 200 nautical miles offshore.

Notes

12 m catamaran with containerisable hulls, 25 t displacement and a 5 t payload, with a launch-recovery and towing system for remotely operated towed vehicles and inspection- or work-class ROVs. Hybrid propulsion runs on 100% biofuel for over 30 days, at 10 kn transit and 7 kn survey speed. RINA class approval covers remotely controlled operation up to 200 nmi from shore; it was tested in the North Sea in winter 2022-2023. A master and watchkeepers supervise it from an onshore control centre.
