Overview

Amphibious, semi-submersible 30 ft USV from Metal Shark that drives on land and launches micro-drones.

Prowler is a 30-foot uncrewed boat from Louisiana shipbuilder Metal Shark that blurs the line between boat, submarine and land vehicle. It runs as a fast planing boat, then floods ballast tanks to sit awash with only its mast above water while it watches. Retractable powered wheels let it drive up a beach or boat ramp and be towed on the road. It can carry up to a dozen Frenzy micro-USVs, small expendable drone boats that roll off its stern ramp to scout or strike.

Notes

30 ft welded-aluminium deep-vee hull with a 300 hp Volvo Penta D6 diesel, a 35 kn sprint speed and 500 nmi range (converted to km). Ballast tanks let it sink to deck level and loiter with only its mast showing. Electric-driven wheels let it drive itself up and down boat ramps and be towed on the road without a trailer. It can carry up to twelve Frenzy micro-USVs, small electric-waterjet boats with a 14 lb payload that also loiter semi-submerged and launch themselves down Prowler's stern ramp.
