Overview

Ukrainian 9 m drone-carrier USV from MAC HUB, used by the Black Sea Legion.

Katran is a Ukrainian uncrewed boat that acts as a small floating drone carrier. Built by MAC HUB for the Black Sea Legion of Ukraine's military intelligence, the 9-metre craft can carry more than 20 small AI-guided interceptor drones that launch from its deck to shoot down incoming drones, along with air-to-air missiles adapted for naval use. It has been used in combat operations alongside the Ukrainian Air Force.

Notes

The Katran X1.2, built by MAC HUB with the Black Sea Legion naval unit of Ukraine's Defence Intelligence, is 9 m long with a 350 hp engine and a range of up to 1,600 km. In a May 2026 demonstration on the Dnipro it carried 27 MAC Dead Fly AI interceptor drones (23 in the published specification); it can also carry two R-73 missiles. The Black Sea Legion has used Katrans with interceptor drones and radar reconnaissance in joint operations with the Air Force. An earlier torpedo-armed Katran was reported in March 2025. A separate Russian USV is also called Katran.
