Overview

30 ft trailerable survey USV from Chance Maritime, chosen by NOAA for charting.

The LR30 is a 30-foot uncrewed survey boat from Chance Maritime Technologies, light enough at under five tonnes to be trailered and launched from a public boat ramp. A climate-controlled bay holds survey electronics, and winches on its sloping deck tow sonars and other instruments. The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ordered up to eight to work alongside its new charting and mapping ships.

Notes

About 30 ft (9 m) long and under 10,000 lb, so it can be trailered and launched from ordinary boat ramps. It has a diesel engine, active gyro stabiliser, a climate-controlled 12 ft payload bay with AC and DC power, and deck winches for towed payloads. NOAA awarded Chance a $21.6 million contract for up to eight LR30s to support its charting and mapping ships.
