Overview

8 m autonomous survey boat from Mythos AI, built on a SAFE Boats Stormer hull.

Archie is the autonomous survey boat of Mythos AI, a company that makes self-driving software for vessels. Built by SAFE Boats International on an 8-metre aluminium hull, it maps the seabed on its own: a customer marks an area on a map, and the boat surveys it while steering around other traffic, then uploads the data to the cloud. Mythos says Archie has covered more than 11,000 miles under full autonomy, including busy commercial channels near Houston.

Primary Roles

autonomous hydrographic surveyautonomous navigation development

Notes

ArchieOne is an 8.05 m aluminium outboard workboat (3.0 m beam, 0.45 m draught) built by SAFE Boats International on a Stormer Marine hull, rated by Mythos AI at 30 kn and up to 10 hours of survey at 7 kn. Mythos AI's software runs the survey autonomously within a customer-selected area, avoiding traffic and delivering bathymetry through the cloud within minutes. Mythos says Archie has logged over 11,000 miles fully autonomous, including 803 miles in the Houston-Galveston Ship Channel at nearly 21 kn with 1,290 COLREGs encounters. It won Baird Maritime's 2022 Best Unmanned Survey Vessel award.
