Taiwanese 30 m uncrewed underwater test platform built by NCSIST and Lungteh Shipbuilding.

Hui Long, or 'Smart Dragon', is a large uncrewed underwater vehicle that Taiwan's state weapons institute NCSIST built with Lungteh Shipbuilding. About 30 metres long, it was photographed during trials in 2024 with what appear to be two torpedo tubes in its bow. Taiwan's defence ministry says it is a towed test platform for sonar and mine trials, and it is believed to help develop equipment for the country's new Hai Kun-class submarines.

Примечания

Developed by NCSIST with Lungteh Shipbuilding from about 2019, reportedly about 30 m long and 100 t. Photos from October 2024 appeared to show two bow torpedo tubes. Taiwan's defence minister said it is mainly for trials of sonar and underwater mines and lacks its own propulsion, so it is towed by a support vessel during trials; it is thought to support the Hai Kun-class submarine programme. Some reports suggest it may have space for a small crew. Figures come from press reports and Wikipedia rather than official specifications.
