Blue Essence is Fugro's uncrewed surface vessel fleet for remote offshore survey and subsea inspection. The 12 m USV, built with SEA-KIT International and operated through Fugro remote operations centres, supports hydrographic and geophysical survey, site characterisation, subsea asset inspection, pipeline survey, offshore wind inspection, and launch/recovery of the Blue Volta eROV. Official Fugro releases identify the vessel as the first USV with an eROV approved by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency for fully remote survey work in UK waters, and later describe Fugro Vaquita as earning MCA Category 0 approval for unrestricted remote operation. Fugro positions Blue Essence as a lower-emission alternative to conventional offshore support vessels, with claimed emissions reductions up to 95%.
