Visão geral
SEA-KIT's historic 12 m X-class USV, developed from the Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE winner and proven on a 22-day remotely controlled Atlantic-margin survey.
Maxlimer is the 12 m SEA-KIT X-class uncrewed surface vessel associated with the winning Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE team. It became an important proof point for ship-independent offshore survey when it spent 22 days mapping more than 1,000 square kilometres of the European continental margin in 2020. SEA-KIT controlled the vessel continuously over satellite from its Essex remote operations centre, and Maxlimer returned to Plymouth with roughly one-third of its fuel still aboard. The mission demonstrated over-the-horizon command, long offshore endurance, and the ability of a compact USV to conduct meaningful seabed mapping without offshore personnel.

During the 2020 demonstration Maxlimer mapped more than 1,000 square kilometres of seafloor on Europe's continental margin while controlled by satellite from Essex. The demonstrated mission duration is recorded as endurance, not a certified maximum.
