Visão geral
NOAA's 6,000 m exploration ROV, which streams live from little-known deep-sea areas of the U.S. and Pacific.
Deep Discoverer, or D2, is the 6,000 m remotely operated vehicle of NOAA Ocean Exploration, flown from NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer together with its companion camera sled Seirios. The 4.4-tonne vehicle has six electric thrusters, two manipulator arms, high-definition cameras, and powerful LED lighting, and it was built and is operated by the Global Foundation for Ocean Exploration. Its dives are streamed live so scientists ashore can direct them in real time, and D2 has surveyed seamounts, canyons, and deep coral communities across U.S. waters and the Pacific, often in places never seen before.
