Visão geral
Shape-shifting U.S. electric AUV that transforms into a two-armed tetherless intervention robot.
Aquanaut, built by Houston-based Nauticus Robotics, is a fully electric underwater robot that changes shape for different parts of a mission. In transit it closes into a streamlined AUV that cruises at about 3 knots and covers 140 km on a typical sortie, or up to 250 km. On site, its hull opens to expose a head with perception sensors and two 8-degree-of-freedom electric manipulators, so it can inspect and do light intervention work without a tether. The 4.82 m vehicle weighs 4.2 tonnes in air, carries a battery of more than 100 kWh, and is rated to 3,000 m. Operators supervise it over acoustic or optical communications rather than flying it like an ROV. The Mark 2 version reached 2,300 m in 2025 trials in the Gulf of Mexico.
