Slocum Sentinel Glider
Galeri
Ikhtisar
Teledyne's larger-diameter Slocum glider with about 25 kWh of energy for missions lasting well over a year.
The Slocum Sentinel Glider is Teledyne Webb Research's long-endurance version of its widely used Slocum glider. By increasing the hull diameter while keeping an 8 ft length, Teledyne fits about 25 kWh of energy into the vehicle, enough for more than 18 months at sea according to its 2026 data sheet. Like other Slocums it changes buoyancy to glide up and down through the water column, but every Sentinel also carries thrusters for bursts of up to 2.5 knots against strong currents or to speed transits. Its modular bays take oceanographic sensors and passive acoustic recorders, making it suited to year-long monitoring of ocean conditions, marine mammals, and maritime activity.
