Kongsberg's compact, off-the-shelf HUGIN designed to be launched from uncrewed surface vessels, small boats, or shore.
HUGIN Edge is a compact member of Kongsberg's HUGIN AUV family, introduced in 2022 as the company's first off-the-shelf, fixed-configuration HUGIN. The 4.1 m, 350-390 kg vehicle dives to 1,000 m and runs for more than 24 hours, carrying the same class of HISAS synthetic aperture sonar and multibeam echosounder as its larger siblings in a smaller, faster-to-deploy package. It is designed to be launched and recovered from uncrewed surface vessels, small boats, or the shore, which makes it well suited to remote, low-carbon survey of offshore wind sites and cables, seabed mapping, and naval mine countermeasures.
