Descripción general
Norwegian 2 m wind-powered sailing drone that crossed the Atlantic and stays at sea for months.
Sailbuoy is a 2 m, 60 kg uncrewed sailing vessel from Norway's Offshore Sensing, built to collect ocean and weather data for months without refuelling. A rigid wing sail drives it at one to three knots, while solar panels and batteries run its navigation, satellite link, and up to about 10 kg of sensors for water quality, waves, weather, or fish echoes. It has survived storms with winds of 30 m/s, and in 2018 a Sailbuoy became the first uncrewed vessel to sail across the North Atlantic, covering about 3,169 miles from Newfoundland to Ireland in 80 days.
