Descripción general
Remotely operated 1.8 m instrument boat from Teledyne Oceanscience for river flow surveys.
The Q-Boat 1800 is a small remote-controlled boat from Teledyne Oceanscience that hydrologists use to measure how much water flows down a river. It carries an acoustic Doppler current profiler across the channel, so nobody has to wade in, hang off a bridge or string a cableway over fast water. Twin outdrives give it enough power for floods while still crawling slowly enough for accurate profiles. Its bright red hulls are a familiar sight in stream-gauging work around the world.

Teledyne's datasheet lists a 180 cm by 90 cm UV-resistant ABS hull, a 30 kg base boat and a 30 kg payload. The 1800P has twin high-power outdrives for up to 5 m/s and profiles at speeds as low as 30 cm/s; the 1800D uses a single outdrive for about 2 m/s. It carries acoustic Doppler current profilers, single-beam echo sounders or water-quality instruments, with optional GPS and radio modem. The smaller Q-Boat 1250 and the remote-piloted 1800RP are related models.
