Overview

Compact Saab Seaeye electric ROV used worldwide for offshore inspection, salvage, and security work.

The Saab Seaeye Falcon is a one-metre electric ROV that has become a standard tool for offshore inspection, salvage, aquaculture, science, and security teams. The standard vehicle weighs 60 kg in air and is rated to 300 m, while the Falcon DR variant is rated to 1,000 m. Five thrusters, four horizontal and one vertical, produce 42 kgf of forward thrust and hold the vehicle steady in strong currents at speeds above 3 knots. Saab's distributed-intelligence electronics let operators plug in cameras, sonars, manipulators, and sensors up to a 14 kg payload without rewiring the vehicle. It runs from single-phase mains power. One contractor alone operates a fleet of 33 Falcons, and Saab describes it as the most successful electric robotic system in its class.
