Overview
Single-person-portable American AUV, originally from OceanServer, used widely for shallow-water survey and research.
Iver3 is a small torpedo-shaped AUV developed by OceanServer Technology and now sold by L3Harris, and one of the most common low-cost AUVs in survey companies, universities, and navies. At around 2 m long and 27-39 kg, one person can carry and launch it from a beach or small boat. The current Iver3-580 dives to 200 m on carbon-fibre hulls and runs for 5-6 hours at 2.5 knots, navigating with a Doppler velocity log, depth sensor, and compass between GPS fixes. Users plan missions by clicking waypoints on a map and fit side-scan sonar, bathymetry, cameras, or water-quality sensors for harbour surveys, environmental monitoring, and mine-countermeasure training.
