Overview

Saronic's 14 ft autonomous surface vessel built for long transits in coordinated swarms.

Cutlass is a 14 ft autonomous surface vessel from Austin-based defence start-up Saronic Technologies, sitting between its tiny Spyglass and the larger Corsair. It is built to cover long distances, about 300 nautical miles, at up to 20 knots while carrying around 200 lb of configurable payloads such as cameras, radios, or other sensors and effectors. Like the rest of Saronic's fleet it runs the company's own autonomy software, which lets many boats coordinate as a group with minimal human input. Saronic designs its vessels for low-cost mass production so navies can field large numbers of attritable boats for surveillance, force protection, and swarm tactics.
